Well, this is certainly turning out to be an expensive year. My PowerMac G5 died the other week so I took it in into a repair shop to have it looked at. Final diagnosis: dead logic board. Cost: ~$600. My reaction: Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow.
Before I took it in, however, I did some research into why my G5 was dead and pretty much narrowed it down to what the guy told me and I knew how much it was going to cost. So... I went ahead and added a new addition to the household: a refurbished 17in MacBook Pro. It just arrived today so I haven't had a chance to really set everything up. The nice thing, though, is being able to use it in bed while Karen is next to me reading her book.
